Eligibility
The Housing Authority of the Birmingham District (HABD) waiting list for Public Housing apartments is currently open.
The HABD is accepting applications as of October, 2019, until further notice.
Please note: According to the HABD, "Public Housing applicants must be 19 years of age or older, 18 years old and married, or a person that has been relieved of the disability of non-age by court action."
There are four ways to apply during the opening period:
- Print the application available online here. Scroll down and select the "Click Here For The Housing Application" link.
- Pick up an application at any of the Public Housing locations listed on the bottom of this page here.
- Walk in to complete an application on Thursdays only at the McCoy Building, located at 1301 25 Avenue North, Birmingham, AL 35204.
- Call the Intake Department on Thursdays only at (205) 521-7460, from 9:00 am until 4:00 pm ET.
Once the application has been completed, it must be dropped off at any Public Housing location, or the McCoy Building at the address above; from 8:00 am until 4:30 pm, Monday-Friday.
Selected applicants will be placed on the waiting list by the date and time the application is received.
