Elgin Area, Illinois Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Waiting List

This waiting list is for Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher rental housing assistance in Algonquin, Batavia, Carpentersville, East and West Dundee, Elburn, Elgin (includes Cook County Elgin), Geneva, Gilberts, Hampshire, North Aurora, South Elgin, St. Charles, and Sugar Grove, Illinois.

The Housing Authority of Elgin (HAE) last accepted Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list applications from March 1, 2024, until 2,000 applications were received. This waiting list was last open in September, 2018. There is no notice of when this waiting list will reopen.

To apply while the waiting list was open, applicants were required to complete the online application.        

Preferences have not yet been confirmed.

200 applicants were placed on the waiting list by random lottery, by order of preferences.
