Orange County, North Carolina Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Waiting List

The Orange County Housing Authority (OCHA) Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list is currently closed. It was last open for homeless households for one week in August, 2017; and before that for four days in October, 2015. There is no notice of when this waiting list will reopen.

There were two ways to apply during the opening period:

1. Download and print the application online.
2. Pick up an application at one multiple locations.

Once the application was completed, it but have been either:

• On August 12, dropped off at the Richard L. Whitted Building.
• On August 14-15, dropped off at the Richard L. Whitted Building.
• On August 16-17, dropped off at the Southern Human Services Center.
• Mailed by August 17 to the OCHA.

This waiting list had the following preferences: Live, work or hired to work in Orange County; veteran; disabled; elderly; homeless; education or job training; transitional housing for homeless, substance abuse or victims of domestic abuse; involuntarily displaced, terminated from HCV program due to insufficient funding, living in substandard housing, rent burdened.

Applicants were placed on the waiting list by date and time the application was received, by order of preferences.
