York County and the City of Poquoson, Virginia Mainstream Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher Waiting List

This waiting list is for Mainstream Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher rental housing assistance in York County and the City of Poquoson, Virginia.

The York County Housing Office (YCHO) Mainstream Section 8 Housing Choice Voucher waiting list is currently closed. Applications were last accepted on a limited basis for one day only on April 2, 2021. There is no notice of when this waiting list will reopen.

Please note: According to the VH public notice, "The waiting list is only open to applicants that have at least one family member who is between the ages of 18 and 61, has a disability and meets at least one of the following requirements:

• Is transitioning out of an institution or other segregated setting
• Is at serious risk of institutionalization; or
• Is homeless or at risk of becoming homeless."

To apply during the opening period, applicants were required to complete the online application.

This waiting list had the following preferences:

• Residency preference in York County and the City of Poquoson, Virginia.

Selected applicants were placed on the waiting list by random lottery, weighed by order of preferences.
